Simple checks before requesting service

  1. Confirm the thermostat is set to COOL and below the room temperature. AUTO is the usual fan setting for cooling cycles.
  2. With the system off, inspect the accessible filter. Replace a dirty disposable filter with the correct size and type, following your equipment instructions.
  3. Keep return grilles and supply vents open and clear of furniture.
  4. From a safe position, note whether the outdoor unit runs. Leave equipment panels closed and stay clear of the fan.

Stop cooling and request service if you see ice or indoor water leakage. Do not chip ice away, bypass a safety switch or repeatedly reset a tripping breaker. Stop use if there is a burning smell or exposed wiring.

Common reasons for poor cooling

Restricted airflow

Filter or coil buildup, blower problems and duct restrictions can reduce airflow. Cleaning helps when buildup is the cause, but does not fix every cooling fault.

A frozen indoor coil

Ice can be associated with restricted airflow or a refrigerant problem. Letting it thaw does not identify or resolve the cause.

Outdoor equipment problems

Fan, compressor, control and electrical faults need testing. A moving fan alone does not establish that the compressor is working.

Real work: mini-split cleaning in Fort Lauderdale

Our Fort Lauderdale cleaning project shows visible buildup and the coil condition afterward. It illustrates why inspection matters; it is not a diagnosis of your equipment.

Help us understand your AC problem

Send your city or ZIP code, thermostat setting, room temperature, when the problem started and whether airflow is weak. Include photos of accessible model labels or visible ice, without removing panels.

AC not cooling: common questions

Does warm air mean I need refrigerant?

No. Several airflow and equipment faults can cause poor cooling. Refrigerant work should follow a diagnosis.

Should I replace the system?

Review the fault, repair scope and equipment condition first. If replacement is an option, compare an installation estimate with the repair findings.

Can a photo tell you the repair price?

Photos help us understand the request. On-site testing may be needed to establish the repair scope and price.
