Why the homeowner requested testing

The assessment documented water damage and visible fungal growth in the kitchen and cabinetry. The photographs below show conditions observed during the inspection, along with the sampling process.

Inspection and samples collected

Sampling was performed on June 18, 2026. One outdoor control air sample, one kitchen air sample and one kitchen cabinet swab were collected for laboratory analysis by Eurofins Built Environment Testing East LLC. Moisture checks helped document the building conditions; a moisture meter reading alone does not identify mold.

What the laboratory findings showed

Laboratory analysis identified Penicillium/Aspergillus-type spores and Chaetomium in the kitchen air and cabinet swab. The assessment documented elevated fungal conditions in the sampled kitchen areas and included a written remediation protocol.

Assessment and next steps

The protocol recommended professional remediation of the affected materials and correction of the moisture source. This case study documents the assessment and testing stage. It does not document completed remediation or post-remediation clearance.

Sample findings describe the locations and conditions assessed at that time. A new property needs its own inspection and a scope based on the actual site conditions.
